Old West Church (second) is dedicated.
November 28, 1806
Architect: Asher Benjamin. Designed in the Federal style, it is located on the site of its predecessor (which had been burned down by British troops in 1775) at today’s 131 Cambridge Street. Rev. Charles Lowell is serves as minister from 1806 until his death in 1861. The congregation is dissolved in 1889, and the building becomes home to the West End Branch Library in 1896, and then to a Methodist Church in 1962.
